Background

The practice of Ryan Associates Consulting Engineers was formed in 2003 by it’s principal, Val Ryan. The practice specialises in building structures and associated civil engineering works.

Valentine Ryan qualified from Dublin Institute of Technology in 1986 with an honours degree in Structural Engineering and spent the next four years in London working initially for Alan Baxter and Associates and then with Skidmore Owings and Merrill, Architects and Engineers. After a further 2 years working abroad on various educational building projects for the Bhutanese Department of Education, he returned to Ireland.

Since then he has worked with T. A McKenna and Partners and KML Consulting Engineers, (taken over circa 1993 by Carl Bro Group).

In 2002 / 2003 the Carl Bro Group made a decision to withdraw from the building structures sector in Ireland and UK and to concentrate on it’s larger heavy Civil Engineering business in this area. This decision of the Carl Bro Group along with the long term objectives of Val Ryan led to the formation of Ryan Associates Consulting Engineers. Ryan Associates Consulting Engineers initially concentrated on completing commissions which were originally under the direction of Val Ryan as a Director of Carl Bro Ireland, progressing to new commissions from new clients and former clients of Carl Bro Ireland.
